In Good Hands – The Friends of Finnish Handicraft 140 Year Jubilee Exhibition
24 Jan – 22 March 2020
Designmuseum, Helsinki
At the beginning of January 2020, the exhibition In Good Hands will open in Design Museum’s Gallery. In this exhibition, four contemporary designers interpret archive materials from the Friends of Finnish Handicraft from over a period of a hundred years. The archive of the Friends of Finnish Handicraft organization in the collection of Design Museum consists of some 6,500 fabric design samples, watercolour sketches, and woven textiles. Textile designer Hanna-Kaisa Korolainen, fashion designer Henna Lampinen, ceramicist Matias Liimatainen and game designer Henri Tervapuro have created new works and products based on the archive material, combining traditional handicrafts techniques and technology. This exhibition is produced in association with the Friends of Finnish Handicraft and will be on display from 24 January until 22 March 2020.
